The Cohuna Clinic, the town’s sole medical practice, is privately owned by Dr. P. Barker. A teaching practice, the Clinic hosts medical students and Registrars who work with the practice doctors.

The clinic has not escaped the current doctor shortage experienced throughout Victoria. To operate at optimum level the practice requires five doctors on a full time basis. As the current number of doctors is only 2.8 – 3 appointments can be difficult to obtain and those with appointments may experience a wait if a GP is called to Cohuna District Hospital for an emergency or imminent birth or when one or two of the doctors are assisting with operations at the Hospital.

The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5.30pm and on Saturday mornings for emergencies from 9am to 12 noon. Appointment times commence at 10.30am. Whilst the practice does not normally engage in bulk billing, special arrangements are available to drought affected families.
