Graduate Nurse Program

The Cohuna District Hospital Graduate nurse will be supported in their 12 month transition from student to confident, competent nurse. This is achieved through the close network of qualified, invaluable and accessible staff within the organisation. We recognise making the transition from student to registered nurse can be challenging. Cohuna District Hospital allows for a smooth transformation. We support the graduate nurse to always work within their scope of practice, utilise evidence-based practice and maintain a high standard of nursing care, participate as a team member with all levels of medical, nursing, community health and allied health staff in multidisciplinary approach to health care. Cohuna District Hospital will ensure that you have the availability to attend some of the most sought after education sessions/seminars and in house in-services as part of your allocated study days during the graduate program. Graduate Nurses are offered 8 paid Professional Development Days throughout the 52 weeks of employment as a Graduate Nurse.
Northern Rivers Graduate Program
The Cohuna District Hospital in conjunction with Echuca Regional Health offers 2 graduate Nurses the unique opportunity to complete their graduate year working 6 months at Echuca Regional Health and 6 months at Cohuna District Hospital. This program is designed to help the Graduate Nurse transition from student to Registered Nurse. The program is designed to provide consolidation of nursing knowledge and skills whilst using a holistic approach to the delivery of nursing care.
